Top 10 Reasons to Opt for Natural Beauty Products (Every Single Time!)

Natural beauty products are all the rage right now. After all, who doesn’t love botanical ingredients and emollient plant oils that moisturize (and smell amazing!), too? But there are lots more reasons to choose natural beauty products. Like, really, A LOT. Here are some of our favorite reasons to opt for natural beauty every single time:

  1. Many botanical ingredients keep farmers in business—and in fact, some small-batch producers work directly with farmers (or grow their own). How awesome is that?
  1. The skin loves natural oils—they’re easier to absorb, and that means they may also be more effective in hydrating and moisturizing (and keeping you looking younger!)
  1. Just like your body is better at recognizing “real” food ingredients rather than the processed stuff, the same goes for your skin. It likes stuff that isn’t complicated. So if you want effective products, natural may work better.
  1. The production of synthetic chemical ingredients is hazardous to the environment, marine life, and our waterways. Botanicals? Not so much.
  1. While allergic reactions can still happen with natural products, they can be less problematic than with synthetics, which can cause more severe skin reactions like contact dermatitis.
  1. Gentler natural ingredients can also mean they’re safer to use over time—you’re less likely to have an acute reaction and that means longer, safer use.
  1. Ever wonder why you go through the cheap, fake lotion in record time but the natural stuff lasts forever? Natural beauty products are often less likely to contain alcohols that can dry out the skin, so a little really does go a long way.
  1. Better for all skin types: While there are still natural products geared toward the different skin types, the fewer synthetic chemical ingredients can generally mean that natural beauty products are suitable for most every skin type. (If you have a very particular skin condition like acne, psoriasis, or rosacea, you will be more sensitive to any product—natural or not.)
  1. Not tested on animals: It’s not the rule for every beauty product boasting a natural claim, but it is in most cases.
  1. Budget friendly: Organic food can quickly get you to Whole Paycheck status—and natural and organic beauty products may seem to be a bit of a sticker shock too. But, keep in mind that you may need less of the natural products as noted above, and that can help cut down on costs. Or, DIY yourself up some natural remedies as well for super inexpensive products from face masks to hair and skin oils and more!
